at Driftwood Shores Resort – Florence, Oregon

Training offerings-

When Disaster Strikes – Evaluator training The WDS Evaluator training instructs qualified individuals on how to perform Post-Disaster Building Safety Evaluations. This 7-hour training program is required training for all three levels of evaluators. This training:

  • Introduces the role of the Post-Disaster Building Safety Evaluator

  • Teaches participants how to perform building safety evaluations

  • Increases awareness of operational environments and hazards

  • Introduces training and credentialing requirements

  • Provides participants with the opportunity to perform virtual ATC 20/45 Rapid Assessments

Class Materials-

  • WDS Field Manual 1419S (provided)

  • ATC 45 (please bring if you have)

  • ATC 20 (please bring if you have) Additionally, it is recommended that all participants download a copy of FEMA’s P-2055

WDS Instructors-

Ted Zuk Ted is the Development Services Director for Jackson County, Oregon, overseeing the Building Inspection, Code Enforcement, and Planning Divisions. In this position, he has experience with ICS and Emergency Operations Center functions and oversaw the building evaluations and damage assessment after the 2020 Almeda and Obenchain wildfires, which destroyed or damaged 2700 residential and commercial structures. He is the current Vice President of ICC Region II, a Past President of SOC-ICC, Past President of Oregon Building Officials Assoc and serves as Chair of the OBOA Standards Committee, is a member of the State Mechanical Board, is a current member of the ICC Professional Development Council, and is active with the Western Pacific League of Building Officials. He has over 40 years combined experience in the construction trades and with the last 22 years as an inspector, plan reviewer, and Building Official.

Serena Locke Serena is the current CPT President, PermitTechNation President, and Oregon Permit Technicians Association, with over 8.5 years of experience as a Building Permit Technician with Jackson County, Oregon. She is passionate about the vital role that a well-educated and informed Permit Technician plays in the success of any department. As a Certified Permit Technician and current President of both PermitTechNation and the Oregon Permit Technicians Association, she advocates for the continuous development of professional knowledge and expertise within the field, recognizing that an educated Permit Tech is the most valuable asset to any organization.
